The new proposed Ocean Knowledge Action Network logo is meant to reflect the harmony and cooperation of the ocean. Each colour, symbolizes a unique group that make up the ocean: water, the aquatic flora and the aquatic fauna. These core components continuously are moving and evolving. The logo represents this dynamic motion of these core components. The logo also shows the cooperation between the different action groups which is reflected in the wave like movement. The wave symbolizes building upon each other’s work, interacting and adapting to the environment.
I therefore am of the opinion that this logo clearly reflects Ocean Knowledge Action Network and it’s values. As a (sustainability) designer and researcher I am a great addition to the community as I believe communication and a visual language will help enable people to connect. With my interdisciplinary skills I can bridge the academic and design field and create clear and communicative design for the Ocean Knowledge Action Network A strong visual language as well as easily identifiable illustrations will make it easier for laypersons, as well as academics, to understand and work with Ocean Knowledge Action Network.
